Introduction

At St Dominic’s the staff have high expectations for all students and consider all students to be ‘students of promise’. They hold a shared belief that engagement is central to learning and they are working towards developing a sense of curiosity and wonder in all the students.

Curriculum is planned collaboratively using the Victorian Curriculum to drive teaching and learning. Class work is differentiated according to need and our teachers work together closely to monitor student progress.

Contemporary technology is used across the school to support and enhance engagement and in all areas of learning. This technology includes all teaching spaces having access to  Touch Screen TV’s. Students have access to a variety of iPads, Chrome Books and laptops.

Our newly built STEAM room provides students with real-life, hands on experiences in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths. This flexible learning space is warm, inviting and engaging for staff and students alike and we look forward to many rich and meaningful learning opportunities together!

What is STEAM?

STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the ARTS and Mathematics to guide student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end result are students who take thoughtful and reflective risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. These are innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century.
